At Viracopos Airport, more than 1,100 Import Declarations (DI) for goods to be used in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic have been registered since March 20th. This number is the highest among the Federal Revenue Customs offices in the country and represents almost 25% of the national total.

In April alone, more than 800 import declarations were registered for products related to the pandemic. The daily average increased from 20, recorded in March, to 40.

Among the measures adopted to meet this demand are the creation of a guide with instructions on clearing goods related to Covid-19 and the advance identification of pandemic-related cargo for priority treatment and, where appropriate, guidance to the importer. The competencies of the Federal Revenue Service's 24-hour on-call service at the airport were also expanded, now handling Covid-19 cargo at any time, including weekends and holidays.

Furthermore, local regulations were developed to facilitate the handling of cargo related to containing the pandemic, establishing alternative ways of carrying out the work, such as remote physical inspection of cargo by tax auditors working from home due to the risk of Covid-19.
