The system uses high-resolution cameras to release animal and plant cargo, as agricultural products entering and leaving the Port of Santos, the largest in South America, will be inspected by the new remote inspection system.

The Santos Port Customs Office, responsible for the entry, storage, movement, and release of goods, implemented the Confere system (Remote Physical Inspection) in 2015 to expedite the flow of cargo that falls into the red channel and requires inspection by federal inspectors.

After prior scheduling of the merchandise verification, the cargo is positioned in the appropriate location for inspection, in front of the cameras available at the terminal. Monitoring is done from within the office, where the inspector can analyze the cargo while maintaining telephone and visual contact with the team on site, and can provide guidance and intervene at any time.

The technological solution should promote agility in inspection and reduce the release time of cargo of animal and plant origin, bringing lower costs to the port community.
